You are not the only one.

If something opened in you that you have no words for — and no one around you seems to understand it — I want you to know you have not lost your mind, and you are not alone.

I know, because I lived it. For years I carried an experience I couldn’t name, searched for anyone who had named it, and found silence where a map should have been. So I made the map myself — slowly, from the inside, out of the science that finally explained what had happened to me and the language that had been missing the whole time.

That is what this place is. Not a diagnosis, not a program, not a promise. A map. It gives the thing a name — Somatic Awakening through Therapeutic Attunement — explains how it works, and lays out, honestly, what is established science and what is my own synthesis. It exists so that the next person searching at 2am finds something I couldn’t: the words for what is happening, and proof they are not broken.

Fair warning: this place has range. Some days the map arrives as grief, fourteen months late. Some days it arrives as a four-panel cartoon about my ankles filing a formal complaint. Both are field reports from the same organism, and I’ve stopped pretending otherwise. The body doesn’t separate the sacred from the ridiculous. I’ve simply agreed to publish both.

I’m Jod(y)ie. My whole working life — from child advocacy to adolescent mental health to two decades of training dogs — has circled one question: how safety gets built, and broken, in developing beings. The species changed. The nervous-system math never did.

The dog on the ridge above is Nala. She appears all over this site — deadpan, unbothered, the most accurately calibrated nervous system in the house. Two decades of training dogs taught me most of what the books later confirmed: safety is built the same way in every mammal. She is the proof I live with.

If you’re the 2am searcher — start with the Map. If you’d rather laugh first — the body files its own reports. Either door leads to the same place.

I’m here. If you need me, reach out — you will not get silence.
